Daikin Malaysia Recognised under SFERE Programme by SIRIM with Gold Category Smart Factory Excellence & Recognition

Daikin Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. announces that it has been recognised under the first SFERE (Smart Factory & Energy Efficiency Recognition Excellence) programme, organised by SIRIM Berhad, reflecting the company’s ongoing efforts in innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainable manufacturing practices.

The SFERE programme, an initiative by SIRIM Berhad, aims to encourage the adoption of smart manufacturing and energy-efficient technologies among Malaysian industries. SFERE is designed as an ongoing national transformation and recognition initiative, supporting companies in their continuous journey towards Industry 4.0 and sustainable manufacturing. As a pioneer programme introduced by SIRIM, this inaugural SFERE programme marks an important step in advancing Industry 4.0 and sustainable manufacturing practices nationwide, with a target of developing 3,000 SFERE-recognised factories by 2030. The programme was introduced and held in Penang in May 2026.

A total of 20 companies were recognised under this inaugural programme, comprising 11 Gold and 9 Silver recipients. Daikin Malaysia is among the organisations recognised in the Gold Category Smart Factory Excellence & Recognition, reflecting its progress in smart manufacturing and energy optimisation. The participating companies span a diverse range of industries, including Electrical & Electronics (E&E), Food and Beverage (F&B), Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices, Chemical & Oleochemicals, as well as building materials, highlighting the broad adoption of smart and sustainable manufacturing practices across sectors.

Daikin Malaysia’s achievement highlights its continued investment in advanced technologies, digitalisation, and environmentally responsible operations within its manufacturing facilities. Through the integration of smart factory initiatives, the company has enhanced production efficiency, optimised energy consumption, and strengthened overall operational performance.

These efforts are part of Daikin Malaysia’s broader sustainability approach, aligned with the global Daikin Group’s Environmental Vision, which focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy efficiency, and promoting the use of environmentally responsible technologies across its operations and products. By embedding smart systems and data-driven processes into its manufacturing, the company supports its commitment to lowering environmental impact while maintaining high standards of quality and performance.

In addition, Daikin Malaysia’s smart factory initiatives are aligned with New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), Malaysia’s national strategy to transform the manufacturing sector towards higher value-added, innovation-driven, and sustainable industries. NIMP 2030 emphasises key priorities such as digitalisation, adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies, energy efficiency, and the transition to low-carbon operations. Through its focus on automation, intelligent manufacturing systems, and energy optimisation, Daikin Malaysia contributes to these national objectives by strengthening industrial competitiveness while supporting responsible and sustainable growth.

“This recognition reflects our team’s continuous efforts to improve and innovate in our manufacturing processes,” said Mr. Benny Wong, General Manager, Production of Daikin Malaysia. “We will continue to leverage smart technologies to deliver high-quality products while managing our environmental impact responsibly.”

Daikin Malaysia continues to advance the HVAC industry through its focus on technology, efficiency, and sustainability, delivering solutions that not only meet evolving customer needs but also contribute to long-term environmental responsibility and industry progress.
